Dedicated Developer Cost Per Month 2026: 5 Regions
A full-time dedicated developer costs $2,000 a month on Empiric Infotech's flat plan, $3,840 to $12,160 a month through agencies in Asia, Eastern Europe and Latin America, and $11,332 a month in salary alone for a US employee at the Bureau of Labor Statistics median wage of $135,980. In the UK and Germany an employee earns about $6,340 and $7,220 a month before employer costs.
Region moves the price, but the hiring model moves it more. This guide separates the two: what providers charge by region, what an employee costs at home, and when a monthly plan costs less than paying by the hour. Our own terms are on the hire dedicated developers page.
The short answer
- India and the rest of Asia: agencies charge $24 to $41 an hour, junior to senior, which is $3,840 to $6,560 a month at 160 hours. Empiric Infotech's flat plan is $2,000 a month for 160 to 172 hours of a mid to senior level developer, with senior review and a project manager included.
- Eastern Europe: $31 to $76 an hour, or $4,960 to $12,160 a month.
- Latin America: $33 to $75 an hour, or $5,280 to $12,000 a month.
- Western Europe, as an employee: a median of £56,914 a year in the UK (about $6,340 a month) and €6,301 a month in Germany (about $7,220), before employer costs.
- United States, as an employee: a median of $135,980 a year, which is $11,332 a month in salary and about $16,200 fully loaded.
- Monthly or hourly: at 160 hours, $2,000 a month costs $400 less than $15 an hour. Below about 133 hours, hourly costs less.
What do providers charge per month in each region?
Agency rates are the closest published guide to what a dedicated developer costs through a provider. Accelerance's 2026 figures, drawn from its survey of 60 software development partners, give junior and senior bands for three regions. It publishes no mid-level band, so a mid-level developer sits inside each range.
| Region | Junior, per hour | Senior, per hour | Per month at 160 hours, junior to senior |
|---|---|---|---|
| Asia, including India | $24 to $31 | $31 to $41 | $3,840 to $6,560 |
| Eastern Europe | $31 to $39 | $64 to $76 | $4,960 to $12,160 |
| Latin America | $33 to $45 | $60 to $75 | $5,280 to $12,000 |
Accelerance labels the middle band "Europe"; its guide covers Eastern Europe. Rates also fell during 2025, by 7.1% in Latin America, nearly 8% in Asia and 4.4% in Europe, according to the same source. Accelerance publishes no US or Western European agency band, so for those two regions the useful comparison is an employee.
For comparison, Empiric Infotech charges a flat $2,000 a month (EUR 2,000 in the UK and Europe, AUD $3,000 in Australia) for 160 to 172 hours of a mid to senior level remote developer, with a senior team lead who reviews and tests every release. That is below every agency band above. Whether the price holds up is the subject of is a $2,000 a month developer worth it.
What does an employee cost per month at home?
If you are weighing a dedicated developer against a hire in your own country, compare against the local median. These are the official figures: BLS for the US, ONS for the UK and the Federal Employment Agency for Germany.
| Region | Median gross pay | Per month | Per month in US dollars |
|---|---|---|---|
| United States | $135,980 a year (BLS, May 2025) | $11,332 | $11,332 |
| United Kingdom | £56,914 a year, full time (ONS, 2025 provisional) | £4,743 | about $6,340 |
| Germany | €6,301 a month (Federal Employment Agency, Entgeltatlas) | €6,301 | about $7,220 |
Pounds and euros are converted at the European Central Bank reference rates of 22 September 2026. The UK figure is for programmers and software development professionals; the German one is for software developers.
These are salaries, not costs. In the US, benefits were 30.0% of total compensation for private industry workers in the BLS employer cost release for June 2026, which takes the median developer to about $16,200 a month. Employer National Insurance in the UK and social contributions in Germany add their own share on top. Recruiting is a one-off cost as well: SHRM's 2025 benchmark puts the average cost per hire for a nonexecutive role at $5,475.
Monthly or hourly: which costs less?
The same developer can be paid for by the month or by the hour, and the right choice depends on how many hours you actually need. At Empiric Infotech the monthly plan is a flat $2,000 for 160 to 172 hours, and the hourly plan is $15 an hour for standard work.
| Hours in the month | Paid hourly at $15 | Paid monthly |
|---|---|---|
| 100 | $1,500 | $2,000 |
| 133 | $1,995 | $2,000 |
| 160 | $2,400 | $2,000 |
| 172 | $2,580 | $2,000 |
| 12 months at 160 hours | $28,800 | $24,000 |
The break-even is about 133 hours a month, because $2,000 divided by $15 is 133. Below that, hourly costs less. Above it, the monthly plan does, by $400 a month at 160 hours and $580 at 172. For sustained product work, where a developer is busy all month, monthly is the better plan. For a short, bounded task, hourly is.
The same logic holds in the other regions we work with. In the UK and Europe the rates are EUR 15 an hour or EUR 2,000 a month, with the same break-even of about 133 hours. In Australia they are AUD $25 an hour or AUD $3,000 a month, so the break-even is 120 hours, and 160 hours paid hourly would be AUD $4,000.
AI work changes only the hourly side. It is $25 an hour (EUR 25, AUD $40), so the monthly plan costs less from about 80 hours a month, and 160 hours paid hourly would be $4,000 against $2,000 on the monthly plan.
What moves the price within a region?
- Seniority. In Accelerance's figures the senior band is about 1.3 times the junior band in Asia, about 1.7 times in Latin America and about 2 times in Europe.
- What is included. Two quotes at the same rate can differ by a whole senior engineer if one includes code review and testing and the other does not. Ask who reviews each release, and whether a project manager is in the price.
- Contract terms. A long notice period or a minimum term is a cost, even when it is not on the rate card. Compare the exit before the rate.
- Hours. Check whether "full time" means 140, 160 or 172 hours. At the same monthly price, the difference is up to 32 hours of work.
Frequently asked questions
How much does a dedicated developer cost per month in India?
Agencies in Asia charge $24 to $41 an hour, junior to senior, in Accelerance's 2026 figures, which is $3,840 to $6,560 a month at 160 hours. Empiric Infotech, based in Surat, India, charges a flat $2,000 a month for 160 to 172 hours.
Is a dedicated developer less expensive than hiring in-house?
In the US, by a wide margin: $11,332 a month in salary alone at the BLS median, against $2,000 to $12,160 through providers. It is not a like-for-like comparison. An employee works your full day and stays for years, while an India-based developer works mostly while you sleep, with a project manager covering your morning, and can be stopped at short notice.
What does $2,000 a month cover at Empiric Infotech?
160 to 172 hours of one exclusive, mid to senior level remote developer; a senior team lead who reviews and tests every release; a project manager for meetings; NDA and IP assignment from day 0; a 7-day risk-free trial; and 7 days' notice to stop. It is EUR 2,000 in the UK and Europe and AUD $3,000 in Australia.
Why do developer rates differ so much between regions?
Provider rates follow local pay and local employment costs. A median US developer earns $135,980 a year, against about $76,000 in the UK and about $86,700 in Germany at current exchange rates, and agency rates in each region are built on those local costs.
How do you price your own plan?
Take the hours you need each month, the seniority the work requires and the overlap your team can live with, then compare like with like: a provider's full monthly price, including review and project management, against a local employee's fully loaded cost. For the product side of the same arithmetic, see SaaS development cost per month; for a long-lived team abroad, see the offshore development center guide. To start with one developer at a fixed monthly price, hire a dedicated remote developer.
